The first thing to do is see if your child is eligible to participate in the league. Ohio County Area Soccer operates leagues for children aged 3-18. The leagues are separated by no more than 2 birth years. The current divisions are Under-4 (3-yr olds), Under-6 (4 & 5 yr olds), Under-8 (6 & 7 yr olds), Under-10 (8 & 9 yr olds), and Under-12 (10 & 11 yr olds). Older age groups are formed if enough players register. Under-8 & younger teams play exclusively at our complex at the Ohio County Park. Typically, Under-10 and older teams travel for some games to Owensboro and other local clubs for a variety of competition and to complement their local schedule.

To be eligible to participate, a child must have turned 3 by August 1 of the corresponding season. Seasonal birth years are administered from August 1 to July 31. If a child has yet to turn 3 by August 1, he/she will not be allowed to register until the following August. Once you have registered your child, it takes approximately 2-3 weeks for a coach to contact you depending on how early you register and when the club forms teams.

For many of us, soccer was virtually nonexistent during our childhood. Only within the last few years has it exploded across the world with major professional and international players along with their teammates making more and more appearances through major media outlets.

Our biggest asset is YOU. Every good league depends on volunteers to help it operate smoothly and efficiently. All of our coaches are volunteers and we need more each season to replace those that have children who have moved up an age group each season. There are also many other ways to volunteer with the club. These can be found in the Participation Program on the Recreational Soccer page. Please consider volunteering when your child decides soccer is for them.
